Heya, @balamanikandan

If you no longer need the droplet in the wrong location, you can destroy it via the Droplets section of the DigitalOcean control panel. This will stop further billing for that droplet.

Keep in mind to take a snapshot or a backup if the data on the droplet is needed to be transferred on the new droplet.

Any account credit or existing balance in your DigitalOcean account is available across your account, not tied to a specific droplet. After destroying the droplet, the unused credits of your balance remains in your account.

Hope that this helps!

Hey Balamanikandan,

Droplets on DigitalOcean are charged by the hour, so you only pay for the time your Droplet was running. If you’ve selected the wrong location and want to create a new droplet, here’s what you can do:

  1. Delete the Current Droplet:

    • If you no longer need the current Droplet, you can delete it from your control panel. Once deleted, you will only be charged for the time the droplet was active.
  2. Understand the Hourly Charges:

    • For example, if you’ve chosen a $4/month Droplet, this cost is based on a rate of $0.006/hour. If the Droplet was running for just 1 hour, you’d only pay $0.006 for that time and not the whole month ahead.
  3. Create a New Droplet in the Desired Location:

    • Once the old Droplet is deleted, you can go ahead and create a new one in the correct location without losing money unnecessarily.

This way, you don’t waste your budget, as you’re only billed for the actual time your droplet is used. For more information, you can check out DigitalOcean’s Droplet pricing and billing documentation.

Hope this clears things up! Let me know if you have any other questions. 😊
