We’ve had a great first half of the year at DigitalOcean, culminating with the return of our flagship virtual event, Deploy, where we made key product announcements, hosted hands-on developer sessions, and learned from many customers who are building on DigitalOcean. If you missed Deploy, you can catch all the sessions on our YouTube channel now. Don’t miss the keynote by DigitalOcean CEO Paddy Srinivasan, where he walked us through the new wave of development and how DigitalOcean is evolving to meet the ever-changing needs of developers.
We’re especially excited for you to learn about the enhancements we’ve been making to DigitalOcean’s products, many of which are a direct result of customer feedback, like Role Based Access Controls (RBAC), coming later this year. Our new products and features were built with the needs of developers and growing businesses in mind—we want to ensure DigitalOcean continues to be the simple, developer-friendly platform that can propel your app to its next level by easily enabling you to use the latest in cloud technology, like generative AI and GPUs. Read on to learn more about the features that are available to DigitalOcean customers today, and what you can expect from us later this year.
Available now in early availability, DigitalOcean GPU Droplets offer virtualized GPUs, allowing users to launch instances with either 1 or 8 GPUs, providing flexible deployment options tailored to various use cases and budgets. These Droplets feature NVIDIA H100 GPUs, renowned for their exceptional performance in large-scale AI workloads. Additionally, users can leverage DigitalOcean’s extensive ecosystem to efficiently store and process data from their AI/ML projects. DigitalOcean is excited to announce that select DigitalOcean Covered Products can now be used to host electronic Protected Health Information! This milestone allows Covered Entities and Business Associates, such as telehealth providers, healthcare software applications, and HealthTech organizations to build and scale sensitive workloads regulated under the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) leveraging select DigitalOcean Covered Products. Check out our new HIPAA information site for more information, frequently asked questions, and additional resources.
DigitalOcean’s Global Load Balancer (GLB) offers an intuitive, predictably priced solution for balancing HTTP traffic across regions, largely eliminating the need for third-party services. It enhances global resiliency by routing traffic to the nearest server based upon the geographical proximity of the end user, providing dynamic multi-region failover, and leveraging edge caching to minimize latency. Learn more about how to create a GLB or watch the product walkthrough video.
Soon, DigitalOcean customers will be able to deploy Generative AI capabilities to their applications using familiar third party foundation models. Foundation models can be experimented with and customized using techniques such as fine-tuning and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) to create AI agents. Users will be able to choose a foundation model or import their own model, and fine-tune them using their files in Spaces. Watch the new GenAI Platform in action! and sign up to try it here!
Coming in August, additional RBAC Roles offer pre-defined bundles of permissions for common customer needs. With RBAC for Cloud Control Panel, get the same access control available in API since April in the DO Cloud Control Panel. Also available later this year, Per-Bucket Access Keys will enable S3 access to be restricted to a single Spaces bucket. Watch the new RBAC features in action!
We have made available a 96 vCPU Premium CPU-Optimized droplet to meet the needs of demanding workloads for select customers in NYC1 and NYC3. With 4th Generation Intel Xeon processors, the new droplet size offers 192 GiB Memory, up to 10 Gbps of outbound network bandwidth, and up to 1.2 TB NVMe SSD, these large droplets are suited for running heavy workloads such as deep video processing, high-performance MySQL databases, and other computational heavy workloads. Watch the product walkthrough now!
Launching Beta in September, VPC Peering provides you the ability to connect two different VPCs of a “team” in a DigitalOcean account within a region or between different regions. Through VPC Peering, you can connect different VPCs of an account and experience strong data isolation and privacy by virtue of private networking between resources without exposing the traffic to the public internet. VPC Peering will support connecting Droplets and Databases of different data centers. Post Beta, we will extend the support for DOKS Pods and Services. Watch the product walkthrough now!
We’re thrilled to share these enhancements with you, and can’t wait to see what you’ll build leveraging our new products and features. Current DigitalOcean customers can log in to their Cloud Panel to start using these products, and new customers can sign up for a DigitalOcean account today to start exploring our range of solutions.
