In the documentation, I see absolutely no mention about a license being provided or not being provided. However, when I logged in to the new droplet after the CPanel install completed, I was prompted to purchase a license from the CPanel Store.
What is the DigitalOcean stance/position/policy on this?

Hi there,
With the DigitalOcean cPanel 1-Click installation, DigitalOcean does not directly include cPanel licenses with their droplets. This means when you install cPanel on a droplet, you’re installing the software, but the license for its use must be acquired separately.
You can buy a license directly from the cPanel Store, as you’ve seen. This method ensures that you get the license specific to your needs and directly manage renewals and support with cPanel.
DigitalOcean provides the infrastructure, but when it comes to licensed software like cPanel, the responsibility for acquiring and managing the license falls on the user. This model offers flexibility but requires you to be proactive in managing your licenses and understanding the associated costs.
Hope that this helps!
Best,
Bobby
Hey @eatingturquoisefish,
You get a free trial, if I’m not mistaken a 14 days one however after that you would still need to pay for the License.
cPanel is a separate entity. This means that you will need to acquire a cPanel license independently. cPanel, being a premium control panel tool, requires a valid license to function properly.
You can purchase this license directly from cPanel or through other authorized resellers.

Once you have your license, you can easily add it with your Droplet and start managing your web hosting environment effectively.
