Question

Duplicated scheduled tasks

I have deployed laravel application on app platform. I want to send push notifications to some of our clients every minute. I set up a scheduled task to do that and i add this "php artisan schedule:work" in the run commands via settings tab. Now the problem is the scheduled task triggers twice at the same second and that causes sending the notification twice to the same client. This is my app resources: 1 GB RAM | 1 vCPU | 100 GB bandwidth with two containers. When i tried to downgrade to one container, the problem was solved. But i need the two containers. How can i change this behavior?

Heya,

the issue you’re facing may be related to overlapping task executions or the scheduler running multiple times due to misconfiguration or a race condition.

Laravel provides a withoutOverlapping() method that ensures a task doesn’t run if the previous instance is still running. You can apply this in your app/Console/Kernel.php:

$schedule->command('your:command')->everyMinute()->withoutOverlapping();

This will prevent your scheduled task from running multiple times simultaneously.
