I’m trying to connect to my MongoDB server with MongoDB Compass but I get every time following error:
querySrv ESERVFAIL _mongodb._tcp.my-db-cluster-name.mongo.ondigitalocean.com
I copied the original connection string from my DB overview panel but still got this error. My public IPv4 is also listed in the trusted sources. My application which is hosted on (DO) k8s can connect to the DB cluster via the public host.
servermongodb+srv://username:password@my-db-cluster-name.mongo.ondigitalocean.com/dbname?tls=true&authSource=admin&replicaSet=dbname
Do you have any ideas to troubleshoot this problem?
I’m not sure if this idea makes sense but when I try to make a nslookup my-db-cluster-name.mongo.ondigitalocean.com
to my cluster I get this error:
server can’t find my-db-cluster-name.mongo.ondigitalocean.com: SERVFAIL
I would say that this error means that there is an error during the dissolution of the domain, but I have no idea how to fix this error.

Hey!
Does it work if you use
mongodb+srv:
rather thanservermongodb+srv:
in the connection string? Here is a quick 2-minute video that shows this in action:
And also here is a link to the official documentation:
Note that if you have trusted sources enabled for your cluster, you would need to add your local computer to the database’s trusted sources.
Let me know how it goes!
Best,
