Question

How to connect Angular front end to PHP App Server

Hi

I got my angular front end to build and deploy with DO App Platform, wonderfully easy. As was setting up the app server, a PHP application. But how do I get them to talk to one another?

My ‘old school’ method would have been to create a proxy on the web server serving the static content that proxied requests for /api/* to the application server.

Is there an equivalent functionality in App Platform, or how is it recommended for a typical Angular/React/Vue SPA to communicate with the back end?

Any hints appreciated, Greg

Hi there,

Indeed, this also applies for the App platform too, however you don’t have to worry about setting up the proxy yourself.

Under one App you can have different components, like your backend app and your frontend app, each running on a different route as you mentioned, eg /api/.

Here is a step by step video that shows how to do this with a PHP Laravel app and a React app, your approach should be the same:

Hope that this helps!

Best,

Bobby
