Question

How to transfer a project or droplet (not a snapshot) to another account or team?

Hi, I have a droplet with an application that has already been through all homolog process, wich means that I cannot change the IP of the application or else the client will need to restart the homolog process with the government - what is not compatible. I’ve seen some people tried to transfer a droplet by transfering a snapshot. This doesn’t work for us because the IP address should be kept

I already successfully transferred the droplet to a new project and now I’m trying to transfer the project to the new team, with the new billing credit card, so they will be charged for the server after the upgrade, instead of me, but can’t find how to.

The main objective is to transfer the financial responsibility for the server, but the perfect solution is to totally transfer the resource to other account, user, team, etc

Weirdest solution but worked fine:

Account > Profile > Sign-in method > Update e-mail address

Basically, I’m going to transfer the entire account (after erasing personal data) to the client, so he’ll keep the droplet under his e-mail on a new account.

That is VERY weird, something like moving a whole table with 10 pans over it, and then moving back 9 pans, just because of this 1 pan that needs to be somewhere else.

Anyway, those 9 pans are not crytical so they can be transferred using snapshot transfer without big problems…

Heya,

Sadly I don’t think there is such an option. As mentioned you can transfer a Snapshot of the Droplet but from what I gather that is not what your aim is.

I’ve noticed your other requirements of what can and can’t be done. The only thing that I can think of is if you contact them DigitalOcean support directly, explain your case as see if they can help with that.

The above is the link you can use. If you have a ticket reference I can try and speed up a response for you given that you provide me with the refernece

Hope that helps! - KFSys.

Hey @caiofelipegiasson,

As per the official documentation, you can’t directly transfer a Droplet to another user, but you can transfer a snapshot of a Droplet. The recipient of the snapshot can recreate the Droplet from the snapshot. Transfer snapshots to another DigitalOcean account or team, which lets you effectively migrate a Droplet or volume to another owner:

It looks like someone has had the same idea before and has posted it on the DigitalOcean Product Ideas board. The best thing to do would be to head over and add your vote to it, as well as adding any additional information in the comments for exactly what you’d like to see implemented!
