Question

I cannot access droplet via ssh server is refusing the key.

Server refused our key no supported authentication methods available (server sent publickey) when I tried to connect to DO,

I have tried everything this happened after I installed splunk on my DO vm. I did create a new user whom I gave this added to wheel using usermod -a -G group:name. The new user is not 'centos’which is used to access the droplet via ssh. How do I resolve this?

Heya @jumezurike,

To which user are you trying to SSH to? To root or to the new user?

If you are trying to connect to root, are you able to using your SSH key? Additionally, make sure to create the .ssh dir for your new user otherwise it will not know the SSH key and will not let you connect.

For the new user run

chmod 700 ~/.ssh
chmod 600 ~/.ssh/authorized_keys

Then add your .pub key in the authorized_keys file.
