why cant the 'app' connect to a droplet using private IP ?

hello, i have a APP and a droplet. i want the APP to connect to the droplet using the private ip as both are hosted in DGocean. now it seems to fail and in networking there is no option to allow a APP access. secondly, i really dont want to open up the droplet to internet.

Private IP access is not currently supported by App Platform apps. However, it’s on our radar and we hope to implement it in the future.
@Jon any updates? I need to connect to Droplets to use App Platform in production. Without Droplets App Platform is only good for simple prototypes.
