Hey!

The DigitalOcean App Platform utilzies Cloudflare by default. So there should be no need for you to connect your App with your personal Cloudflare account.

Feel free to share more information about the exact setup that you are after and I will be happy to provider you with more guidance!

If you are only after managing your DNS via Cloudflare, you could follow these steps:

  1. Set up your domain on Cloudflare:

    • Sign up or log in to your Cloudflare account.
    • Add your domain to Cloudflare by following the on-screen instructions. Cloudflare will scan your domain’s DNS records.
    • Update your domain’s nameservers to point to Cloudflare. This change is made at your domain registrar’s website. Cloudflare will provide the nameserver details.
  2. Configure SSL/TLS encryption:

    • In your Cloudflare dashboard, navigate to the SSL/TLS section.
    • Ensure that your encryption mode is set to “Full” or “Full (strict).” This ensures encrypted traffic between Cloudflare and DigitalOcean.
  3. Add DNS records in Cloudflare:

    • Go to the DNS section of your Cloudflare dashboard.
    • Add a CNAME record pointing your domain (or subdomain) to your DigitalOcean App Platform app. The target will be the default domain provided by DigitalOcean for your app, e.g., your-app.ondigitalocean.app.
  4. Configure your DigitalOcean App Platform app:

    • Log in to your DigitalOcean dashboard and navigate to your App Platform app.
    • Go to the “Settings” tab of your app.
    • Under “Domains,” add your domain (the one you’ve set up on Cloudflare). Follow the prompts to verify domain ownership if required.

Let me know how it goes!

Best,

Bobby
