BUT i don’t know what web server it’s installed, nginx? apache? it surprised me, i don’t even find any directory like /var/www/html/ or etc/nginx/. what happens under the hood?

According to the docker wordpress documentation, the “latest” image tag is associated with apache. A quick test would be to use the docker top command. From the linux command line, try:

Docker Compose helps you provision Docker containers. Wordpress is installed in a Docker container, which is similar to a virtual machine in the sense that it is isolated from your actual server.
