Question

I want to point another domain name to the website you are hosting for us, but having security issues.

Currently you are hosting my website our multivendor website blackwallstreets.store. This domain name is hosted on Domain.com I just purchased a new domain name that is shorter called bws.store and it is hosted on Godaddy.com

We are having problems properly pointing this domain bws.store to blackwallstreets.store and I could use your help.

Initially I requested that my Web Designer to make the domain name bws.store secured with SSL and he did just (Let’s Encrypt) and it is active and pointed it to blackwallstreets.store but he’s getting a “HTTP Status: 404 (not found)”

He tried looking in my cloudflare account and on the server and sent me the below response: I want to get a second opinion on this because it doesn’t seem accurate:

1st response: Yes, seems to be a server issue because site seems to be on https for sure. However, server throws 404 not found. Any possibility that you can give me access to server?

after checking…

2nd response: Hey @Sterling Thank you for sharing the logins and I did check. It seems that we will have to switch to WordPress multisite if we want both domains to serve the same site. Let me know if you wish to go this route.

Please advise

I do have Plesk Account with Digital Ocean

Heya, @sterlingreed

If you want the new domain to redirect to the main site, you can. add it to your Plesk server and setup the redirection.

Regarding the suggestion to switch to WordPress multisite, it’s a viable option if you want to manage multiple websites (in this case, blackwallstreets.store and bws.store) from a single WordPress installation. However, it might not be necessary if your primary goal is simply to point bws.store to blackwallstreets.store.

We have an article for WordPress multisite which you can check here as well:

Heya @sterlingreed,

What you can do is add your bws.store domain to your Plesk Account and do a simple redirect to blackwallstreets.store from there OR you can add a CNAME record for bws.store that points to blackwallstreets.store
