Question

Is an angular app considered a static site?

Technically, an angular app is some HTML and JS (wrapped in a framework) - the site is a very simple game; no DB involved, just calls to other APIs via REST.
Is it still considered to be a static site?

Hi there,

Yes, you should be able to host an Angular website under the App Platform free tier.

So when you get to the Resources step, click on the edit button next to the web service name:

Once there, click on the Edit button next to the Resource Type, and from the drop-down menu select the Static Site option:

That is more or less it! The App Platform will run npm run build and then try to auto-detect the output directory, if it fails you would need to define the directory in that same step.

As a side note, you can define a build step where you run an npm build and deploy the build artifacts directory as a static website.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Best,

Bobby

Hi @ochiwerks,

From my experience, yes and no. The pre-render feature provided with Angular Universal allows you to quickly and easily transform an Angular application into a static website. The two main benefits are: better indexing for search engines and the speed of your site (which is also a factor for search engines).

Having said that, using the App Platform would be a good choice for an Angular App if that is what you are considering.
