Hi, @jcooksey I will try to be helpful as possible here. Let’s make some calculations first: for an average of 23 Million hits in one day, these are:

  • 959k hits per hour or
  • 15,983 hits per minute or
  • 266 hits per second

My recommendations for this website are the following ones:

  • First: use the right droplet to host the website. My recommendation? The OpenLiteSpeed Wordpress Droplet. Why? It will use the WordPress version 5.3.2 and PHP 7.3, which is incredible for Wordpress. Put at least 5 to 7 Droplets with your website, and then scale up or scale down using the DO API

  • Second: Host the Wordpress assets in the DO Space CDN. Here’s the guide to accomplishing that. This could actually save a lot of money and headaches

  • Third: Use a Load Balancer in front of your Droplets

  • Fourth: Use the Managed MySQL Service for automatic scale

  • Keep testing what is the best configuration but this could give you a good foundation.
