Question

This site can’t be reached 78.62.221.xx took too long to respond

Freshly installed apache2 on ubuntu. the default apache page showed. i made 1 minor config change (in dir.conf) and installed php mysql then i kept getting this error: “This site can’t be reached”

No DNS involved, just on the IP address.

Traceroute reaches 178.62.221.23 Portscan tells that port 80 on 178.62.221.23 is open I can telnet into port 80 on 178.62.221.23 Apache error log gives no errors Apache access.log show nothing special Apache2 is running Apache configuration files gives no errors sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /var/www/html // give www-data access to webroot

The only change i made was to dir.conf to put index.php first

I have spent a few hours troubleshooting this to no avail. Then i removed PHP, MySQL and Apache and re-installed Apache, still i get: This site can’t be reached 78.62.221.23 took too long to respond.

Should i just delete my droplet and start a new one?
